EditGrid - iPhone Optimized Spreadsheet Application

editgridnavscreen1 editgridchoosemode1

EditGrid is a powerful online spreadsheet tool that has just released an iPhone Editon beta.

This looks pretty slick. EditGrid itself offers concurrent viewing and editing by multiple users in real time, and sharing and publishing of sheets. I’ve just been trying out the iPhone Edition and it looks sweet.

It offers copy & paste within spreadsheets, editing, viewing of the formula and fonts menus, and sample sheets to use as templates. One very nice touch is that as soon as you select a spreadsheet to work with, EditGrid lets you choose from 3 Modes (as seen in the screencap on the right above)to work with it in, as follows:

  • Edit Mode = optimized for editing smaller spreadsheets
  • View Mode = optimized for browsing larger spreadsheets
  • Hybrid Mode = optimized for browsing and editing larger spreadsheets

That’s a cool choice to have, and the View mode is much quicker leditgridsamplesheet2oading just as it says it will be. EditGrid’s site admits that the beta of the iPHone Edition has a ways to go - mentioning in particular that load times are not fast enough and that sharing and some other features are not yet enabled. They’re working on these and other improvements.

There’s a link at the top right of the screen to switch to the iPHone Editon.
