Apple iPhone was released in the USA on June 29th, 2007. Soon after, iPhones were introduced in the United Kingdom, Germany and France in November 2007, and in Ireland and Austria in March 2008.
However, the USA’s largest trading partner and neighbour, Canada, does not have the iPhone yet.
Please recognize the demand for the iPhone in Canada. Or at least, please give us a release date to look forward to. Thank you.
Talk about being in demand. Above is an excerpt from The Great Canadian iPhone Petition, the goal of which is to get Apple and / or the Canadian carriers to pull their fingers out and get the iPhone released in Canada, or at least get some real, firm information on a release timeframe.
It seems that for those who are anxiously awaiting the iPhone release, the frustration has only been increased by consistently vague and boilerplate-sounding statements from Rogers Wireless on the subject over the year or so - which have merely committed to launching the iPhone in Canada ‘as soon as possible’.
The petition is advocated by the two largest iPhone-related websites in Canada: www.iphoneworld.ca and www.iphoneincanada.ca , together accommodating over 100,000 Canadian readers a month.
