Winpwn Jailbreak Tool Out of Beta Now

WinPwn banner

WinPwn - the Windows version of the very popular pwnage jailbreak method - is now out of beta, and Release Candidate 1 is available for download at the winpwn site.

The new 1.0 RC1 version is said to be much more stable and contain many bug fixes - as well as some notable new features:

  • Completely rewritten installer app that adds support for nearly every package (Including Cydia)
  • You are now able to remove items from installer
  • Change logos without restoring.

That ability to change logos without having to re-do the pwnage process is one that lots of folks have been hankering after - and one I’d definitely like to see come to the Mac version, Pwnage Tool.

Amongst the main reasons the pwnage - and WinPwn - jailbreak method has proved so popular are that it offers a solid level of customization on what is installed to the iPhone via a very easy to use GUI, and it also allows you to restore via iTunes, adding a major comfort level to that element of the process.

I have not yet tried out WinPwn, as I’m currently using a Mac, but have been extremely happy and impressed with my last jailbreak using the Pwnage Tool.
