DiskAid is a new program that allows you to use your iPhone like an external drive, and transfer files easily back and forth between the iPhone and a computer. It works on Mac or PC, requires install on the computer only (so no jailbreak required) and is free as well.
I’ve been giving the program a try this morning and it works as advertised. The install was fast and painless, and using it is very straightforward. As soon as you launch DiskAid it looks for a (USB) attached iPhone and auto-detects when it is there or prompts for you to plug it in if it’s not.
Once it has detected your iPhone, you use a simple Explorer (or Finder) like screen to move files back and forth between the iPhone and your computer. You can drag and drop easily as well within the interface.
This is a very useful app for anyone who doesn’t want to mess with any of the various SSH / wireless iPhone access methods, and particularly for those who are not jailbroken and want to be able to treat the iPhone as an external drive.

liking this so far. Don’t have any wireless stuff at my house, so have always had to depend on installer. Now I can download all my podcasts, videos, audio records and get them onto my desktop without emailing then download. A real paid for the few dialup users in the world.

I never understood why we can’t do this with our iPhone but we can with iPods …

jjvaldez - yeah, this is another of those ‘Huh?’ sort of leave-outs. Nice to see more solutions coming out for it …

I tried to install this on my windows-computer, but it’s a bit odd:
When I open the programme it tells me that a newer version (1.20) is available -but I am running 1.20..
It detects my iPhone, but I can only see the Media-folder -No sign of the Library-folder.
Even when I choose to install “the newer version” I get this notification. This telles me The windows version isn’t up and running at 100% yet..(?)
The Mac-version (shown on the screenshot) seems to be ok.
Anyone else experienced this? -Does anyone have a solution for this??
