I find that ringtones very rarely keep me content / interested for very long, so having a good selection and regular new choices is always a good thing. So I’m happy to have come across a cool new site for this purpose today: iPhone Ringtones.
It’s done as a podcast site, so that you can just subscribe to it via iTunes and have all the ringtones updated automatically (the link is pointed out in the screncap top of this post). You can also subscribe to receive updates via email.
That’s the iCarta Stereo Dock for iPod pictured above, which promises to work as both iPod / iPhone dock and toilet paper dispenser - a combo we’re all seeking???
Thanks to our good friend Wayne over at Gear Diary for the heads-up on this essential interesting item covering all your versatile rest room iPhone docking needs. Read on if you’d like to see all the features on this one …
A simple canvas that keeps your notes up to date, on the phone or on your mac.
NotepadSync is a promising sounding new notes syncing program - between Mac and iPhone - due to be coming to the App Store by August. It promises to offer several quite nice ease-of-use sort of features, like …
Create notes on your iPhone, with the ability to write text anywhere on the screen…
Notes are stored securely in the cloud, and are updated when changes occur.

I think I may have mentioned I am definitely finding the way-ayyyy-ting is the hardest part, leading up to the iPhone 3G and especially the 2.0 software and App Store launch. Luckily there is no shortage of juicy iPhone rumors of all sorts making their way round the web this week, to keep me at least a little distracted. Like …
Ever find it frustrating that the iPhone doesn’t present you with an exact number / percentage of remaining battery charge?
MyBattery is simple new app that gives you just that handy piece of missing information in a clean little package.
The app shows you a graphical representation of how full the battery is (much like the one seen on the Slide To Unlock screen), as well as offering a percentage figure in text just below the battery graphic - as you can see in the screencap above.
MyBattery refreshes every 10 seconds while you have it open, so it’s not a good one to leave open for long stretches if you don’t want to drain your battery unduly while checking on it (though I can’t imagine why you would keep it open more than a quick few secs).
I’ve been using this app for a few days and found it quite accurate so far - it has indicated low charge right when the iPhone kicks in with warnings, for example. The only thing that has not worked as expected thus far is its Settings button - when pressed, this does nothing for me so far.
MyBattery is out on Installer now, and should not require any additional sources be installed in order to get it.
A while ago, it was announced that Rogers would be bringing iPhone to Canada. However, until now, nobody has known what kind of plans the company will offer. This morning the mystery was solved, as Rogers released it’s official page on iPhone plans.
Services plans start at $60 (Canadian) and end at $115. Oddly, unlike other companies carrying the iPhone, Rogers does not offer an unlimited data plan, which, obviously, may be an issue once the AppStore is released.
Yesterday Apple released the iPhone SDK Beta 8 - build 9m2199 - to Developers. The new version is available from Apple’s iPhone Developer Connection, and is 1.25 GB in size. According to developers, this release it more stable than previous releases of the SDK.
This build includes the iPhone software revision 5a345 as well as a developer version of iTunes 7.7, which Apple describes as “The Developer release of the latest version of iTunes, allowing you to install iPhone OS Beta 8 on your Apple devices.”
In addition to the release, any iPhone Beta Certificates issued before June 9th have expired. Now, all applications must be associated with a Beta Certificate issues after June 9th in order to function on the iPhone.
Have you still not quite got round to watching the Steve Jobs keynote presentation from WWDC a couple weeks ago, where he announced the iPhone 3G, along with lots of App Store apps demos and MobileMe intros etc?
Now you can get the real lowdown in just 60 seconds! Mahalo Daily is continuing their tradition of producing a great one-minute canned version of the most important bits from a Jobs keynote (which they also did for his MacWorld keynote back in January) and have got their WWDC 2008 one-minute one up now.
It’s well done and worth watching to the very end, for the rapid-fire collection of Stevo superlatives. Click the pic at the top of this post to check it out …
uSirius is a new jailbreak application that brings Sirius radio streaming to the iPhone - and does it quite well.
I’m not a Sirius subscriber and have only got a taste of it occasionally when in friends’ cars and similar, but this app looks impressive if you are a Sirius user. I signed up for the Sirius 3-day free trial in order to give this a quick test run, and found the program pretty impressive.
Setup was easy and quick - just input your Sirius subscriber username and password and then let it load channels and channel logos - loading channels took around 1 minute for me, and logos maybe 2-3 minutes, and then it was all ready to go.

If you bought your iPhone on the original launch day, then your warranty coverage is set to expire in just a few more days (on June 29).
If you’re keeping your V1 phone though, you can choose to purchase extended AppleCare coverage for it, for $69.95. Here’s part of the description of what that gets you:
The AppleCare Protection Plan for iPhone extends your repair coverage to two years from the original purchase date of your iPhone.(2) Whether you use iPhone with a Mac or a PC, just one phone call can help resolve most issues.
Should your iPhone need service under the plan, Apple-authorized technicians will repair it or provide a replacement using genuine Apple parts.
My current plan is to keep the V1 iPhone and see if my wife will take it over, so I may think about getting this coverage. How about you all - planning to make use of this if keeping your current iPhone?
As with any app, and perhaps especially with a voice command program, your mileage may vary a whole lot - but I honestly felt the last few days like I wanted to turn into the Verizon TV ads guy, and just ask Voice Dial ‘Can You NOT Hear Me Now???“ — Patrick’s Voice Dial review
