Apple’s Let’s Rock highlights

So the event just wrapped up a few minutes ago and here are the highlights:

New iPod Nano – sports an accelerometer, on-board genius playlist support, and a bold price of $149 8GB or $199 for 16 GB.

New in-ear buds – sporting what looks like volume controls and a clicker on the wires, two sound drivers, $79 in October

Hit the jump for more…

New iPod Touch – metal design, curved like 3G, volume buttons, built-in speaker, 8GB $229, 16GB $299, 32GB $399. Get them now :D

iTunes 8 – genius playlist (like Pandora) to collect similar music, HD video, NBC returns, better visual navigation. Available later today.

Firmware 2.1 – lots of bug fixes (apps crashing mentioned), better batt life, faster backup. Free and available this Friday.

All in all, that was one jam(m) packed hour. I really like the look of the new nanos, and their accelerometers should make the aging interface a bit more accessible (read Giz’s very interesting article on the touchwheel’s demise here). My sister is hopefully going to get the iPod Touch real soon, and if that happens, I’ll steal the thing and shoot a review up for JAMM real soon.
