(Note: This is one of a series of reviews of weather applications and webapps for the iPhone, which will culminate in a head-to-head comparison)
The weather application that most iPhone owners are familiar with is the one that comes with it. And while it can satisfy the need to know the most basic forecast details (sunny, rainy, etc), it certainly leaves many people wanting more information to help them better plan their day. Several web applications and iPhone applications have been written address this need - both for the casual user and those more meteorologically-minded. Today, we take a look at Fizz Weather, currently retailing in the App Store for $5.99.
Alright, I’m keeping this one short and sweet because we should have one coming in for review in a little while. Anyway, So far I love the look of the new Perfora Case for the iPhone 3G - very classic look with strong lines and as always I’m a fan of the white stitching on black leather!
Proporta have designed the Perfora Case with the iPhone 3G specifically in mind. This stylish case not only enhances the aesthetic of the device (even if we do say so ourselves), but will also keep your iPhone 3G fully protected from all of life’s little nasties.
Made from high quality, durable leather, the physical design of The Perfora Case or the iPhone 3G provides surrounding protection. The secure closure mechanism ensures that your iPhone 3G will be as snug as a bug in a rug and the matching belt clip also makes this case ideal for use on the move.
Check the new Perfora case out at Proporta.com and definitely keep an eye for the review coming soon!

Had to post this one as its the first time I’ve seen one of the colorwarepc.com painted 3G iPhones. I think they look incredibly hot … and if I had enough money (like $190) I’d even consider it myself. Of Course mine would be Orange.

In my admittedly sporadic testing over the past few days, I’ve not noticed much better battery life with the 2.1 update than before. Starting with a full battery, in a few hours of web/email usage under 3G I am down to 50% battery, and am easily able to get it to 20% with more usage throughout the day. I’m not impressed.
Adding insult to injury, two web applications that I wrote that feature the HTML "Meta Refresh" tag no longer work in Safari — but they did PRE-2.1.
<META HTTP-EQUIV=’Refresh’ CONTENT=’1 URL=/ ‘>
This tag should directed the browser to go to the page ("/" - the homepage, in this example) in the time specified (1, or 1 second in this example). This worked under 2.0 but does NOT under 2.1.
Anyone else seen anything noteworthy with their 2.1 upgrade?
Alright folks - I’m running way behind on getting this one out the door so I’ll keep things brief because I feel bad about not getting it done when I should have. Anyway, honest truth - I really like almost everything JAVOedge ends up sending us for review, not because they send me stuff, but because they consistently submit great products time and time again. Now, truth also be told I always find a few "trivial" things to complain about, but most times they really are just trivial kind of things that don’t usually hamper the product. They just keep me from sounding like I’m kissing tushy and this is going to be another one of those reviews - because the product is solid.</p>
Naturally - like they always do, JAVOedge sent me one of each color to check out. So basically what you’re seeing in this shot is the backside of both the black skin and the white skin as well as the little poofy Micro Swipes they sent.

Yes, that USB Power Adapter. The impossibly small one that we all shook our heads at and couldn’t believe. Well its got a recall. But not for something simple like the ability to catch on fire. Heck no - when you’re Apple and you’ve come up with an impossibly small adapter - you recall that adapter for the impossible: The little frickin prongs can BREAK OFF in the plug! Who Knew?!
Anyway, for now stop using the little guy and charge using your computer for a few days. According to Apple you can exchange it in stores on October 10th or you can order a replacement online.
Today Apple announced the Apple Ultracompact USB Power Adapter Exchange program.
Apple has determined that under certain conditions the new ultracompact Apple USB power adapter’s metal prongs can break off and remain in a power outlet, creating a risk of electric shock. We have received reports of detached blades involving a very small percentage of the adapters sold, but no injuries have been reported.
The ultracompact USB power adapters were supplied with every iPhone 3G sold in the following countries, and may also have been purchased separately as an accessory:
US
Japan
Canada
Mexico
Several Latin American countries (click here for a detailed list of countries)
Note: Apple USB power adapters supplied with original iPhones or supplied with iPhone 3G units sold in other countries are not affected.
You’re not gonna read a darned thing I say anyway … so here’s all the info from the Dev Blog and the links you need to get your pwn-on.
Supports 2.1 firmware with the unlocking and jailbreaking of iPhone 1st generation (2G) device. Supports the jailbreaking of iPod Touch 1st generation device and iPhone 3G. Does not support the unlocking of iPhone 3G or jailbreaking of second generation (n72ap based) iPod Touch.
I really can’t say a whole heck of a lot about this one - except its already on my gotta buy list. I loved this game as a pre-appstore jailbreak app and I fully intend to enjoy it on my iPhone.

So far, Twinkle is very nice to use, and has some unique, fun features. It is missing some more basic ones that are found, for instance, in the Hahlo web app Twitter client, which it would be nice to see added, but I have to say this is already my favorite iPhone Twitter app. — Patrick’s Twinkle review
