As we suspected in our review of MLB.com At Bat, the $4.99 price is now confirmed to be a "per season" fee.
The recently released updated version of the application displays the following screen upon startup:
Personally speaking, if MLB.com doesn’t provide higher-quality video under 3G next year (or substantially lower the price - to, say, $1.99), I will not be purchasing the application as the video replays are pretty much the sole reason to choose the application over MLB.com’s mobile web site.
We will be contacting MLB.com for comments.
UPDATE: The price for At Bat has dropped overnight to $2.99 - but I wouldn’t expect that price to be the same for the 2009 version - just for this year’s playoffs.

I don’t understand all the hub-bub about this app. Go to ESPN and they have a nicely formatted screen that does all of this. I was able to watch the play-by play, pitch-by-pitch when the Red Sox were on this weekend. It’s free, covers all the major sports, college games, and much, much more. Jeeeeze.
