It seems the hot iPhone rumor of the moment is that AT&T may finally be getting ready to announce an iPhone tethering plan – maybe even sometime during Macworld this week. This has been a big wish list item for lots of folks since Day 1, and has only been available up to now via jailbreak / ‘unofficial’ means.

TUAW has a ‘trusted source’ indicating that AT&T’s iPhone as modem tethering plans may be ready to get announced sometime this week, during the Macworld Expo. Pricing guesses say it may be offered at $30/month with a 5GB data cap.

More details at TUAW.

I don’t urgently need this feature. How about you all? Many of you waiting anxiously on this one?

As I wrote on my blog yesterday, why would you pay $30-$40/month when you can get it for free with PDAnet… There is always the “legal” concern but hey, I don’t care much about that/

Now if I were a company, I obviously would go for the AT&T plan, but as an individual, my choice is made. It’s PDAnet.

Sebastien – it seems quite steep to me as well. Then again, I’ve seen some people say they need this feature badly enough to pay just about anything even vaguely reasonable for it. I take it PDAnet works pretty well?
