Wow! Apple’s home page is blasting the news that the App Store has now exceeded 500 million downloads (and confirmed that there are now more than 15,000 apps available).

The company noted that it had reached 300 million downloads back on December 5th, meaning that 200+ million apps have been downloaded in just 5 weeks.

Not much more to say on this one – well, maybe a cue for jokes about how many million of those DLs are fart apps – but still, just wow …

Doesn’t surprise me at all. Apple claimed that the market in 2009 would be worth at least a Billion. Here’s shooting for two!

TheAggie – my math is terrible, but at that December to January pace (up by 200 million) seems like they might get to that ‘two’ – though I expect that’s a real holiday season peak sort of effect …
