Review: invisibleSHIELD for iPhone3G

IMG_9623

Alright, cut to the chase time. This is going to be a bit of a different review from what you’re used to seeing come through most blog sites including this one. I’ve already done a review of the iPhone invisibleSHIELD full body shield a short while back so I’m not going to rehash the entire thing. I could go through all the things I went through before, but to be honest most of it remains the same. So, you’re wondering what am I going to do? Well, click on through to find out!

Proporta unleashes a new case for the 3G - Perfora

98B267E3-1D37-4EA4-8156-0E134D06E7AB.jpg

Alright, I’m keeping this one short and sweet because we should have one coming in for review in a little while. Anyway, So far I love the look of the new Perfora Case for the iPhone 3G - very classic look with strong lines and as always I’m a fan of the white stitching on black leather!

Proporta have designed the Perfora Case with the iPhone 3G specifically in mind. This stylish case not only enhances the aesthetic of the device (even if we do say so ourselves), but will also keep your iPhone 3G fully protected from all of life’s little nasties.

Made from high quality, durable leather, the physical design of The Perfora Case or the iPhone 3G provides surrounding protection. The secure closure mechanism ensures that your iPhone 3G will be as snug as a bug in a rug and the matching belt clip also makes this case ideal for use on the move.

Check the new Perfora case out at Proporta.com and definitely keep an eye for the review coming soon!

Griffin Technology’s Clarifi - Say hello to practical

Picture 2.png

Ok, I guess you can say hello to hot! too. Seriously though this is a great freaking idea and another one of those smack yourself in the forehead for not thinking of it first sort of things. As I’m sure you’ve all figured out by now close ups are not exactly the thing iPhone does best - mainly because the camera is focused at a length of about 18 inches. But, with this (”coming soon”) case from Griffin - you can plan on getting a whole lot closer!

Clarifi is no ordinary polycarbonate case.

That’s because, when the details matter, Clarifi’s built-in lens gives your iPhone a boost in camera resolution.

Slide the Clarifi lens into place over the built-in lens of your iPhone. Your macro and close-up shots are instantly finer in detail, more accurate in color. With Clarifi’s lens, your iPhone can image an entire business card with astounding clarity. Slide the lens aside for normal photography. WIthout Clarifi, iPhone requires about 18 inches to focus properly. Slide Clarifi’s lens into place and you can move in to 4 inches for crisp detail and great pictures.

And, of course, Clarifi is also a super-protective case, constructed of durable polycarbonate, with cutaways for access to power switch, headphone jack, volume controls, and dock connector. For use with Apple Universal Dock wells, Clarifi features Griffin’s trademark EasyDock™ design: the bottom third of the case slides down and off to fit in standard dock wells.”

via Slickdeals.net - InvisibleShield 50% off promo

Picture 5.png

If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a billion times - protecting your device from scratches is extremely important, and almost every time I’ve said something like this, InvisibleShield is one of the names I mention that I put my complete trust in. Recently I’ve had my eyes opened to a couple other great brands that provide very similar protection (review coming soon) - but today, what was one of the best promotions around appears to be back on - The Zagg 50% off ’showspecial’ promo code!

Click on through to slickdeals.net below and then click on through the link they have on that page. The site won’t look any different - until you look at the price tags. By the way - I wouldn’t hold off on this one too long. Last time I thought I’d try to find a better deal, I missed the promo ending by two hours.

Stereo Bluetooth A2DP Adapter for iPhone

a2dpiphone

A lot of folks had been hoping for support for the A2DP Bluetooth audio stack in the 3G iPhone. (A2DP allows for stereo music over Bluetooth in addition to the standard mono Bluetooth headset audio.) Unfortunately, Apple did not gratify this particular wish, but now Hong Kong-based accessory maker Brando is stepping to the gap with the INFINXX AP23.

Good news for those who’ve been longing for A2DP support on the iPhone, as long as you’re OK with an adapter.  Even if you’re not a big fan of the adapter concept, this one seems very compact and pretty subtle in its appearance.

The INFINXX AP23 goes for $62 plus shipping, and you can check out all its details and specs HERE

Battery Pack Options for Juicing Up The iPhone 3G

kensingtonbattery

One week into the joys of iPhone 3G ownership, there are a few issues some of us (or many of us even) are still getting to grips with - and getting battery life where we’d like it to be is certainly on that short list.

So it’s good to see a couple of posts today with short rundowns of some extended battery options for the iPhone 3G, to help it give it a boost.  Geek.com has an article on this, with a couple of choices (though one is clearly not designed for the 3G and took some forcing to make work), and Gizmodo also has a good little list with a few handy battery helpers.

Caught in iPhone 3G Accessory Hell?

Caution - Mini-Rant coming. And Advice given/needed.

IMG_0005 IMG_0003

Now - I know I’m not the only one who’s seen these screens lately. And I’d be willing to bet even more of you have see the screen that tells you that you can’t charge your iPhone 3G …

Now here’s the really crappy part: I’m getting these even with accessories like the USBFever.com iPhone FM Modulator that I’ve been using for a while now with my first gen iPhone. So What the heck are we supposed to do? APPLE? HELLO? I mean I know you had good reason to disable the FireWire charging pin like you did, but this is a bit ridiculous. Many of the non-charging accessories are just as screwed as the charging ones. And given the current state of crap-tastic the 3G iPhone battery is … accessories are about the only thing that keeps my iPhone running.

So far I’ve tried a couple different accessories from Belkin and others only to find that most are dead in the water. And no offense Apple store employees … but I KNOW that most of the accessories don’t work and WHY they don’t work. How is it that YOU don’t? No joke, I called the Flatirons Apple store on Tuesday and spoke to a nice girl there that cheerfully told me that if it didn’t work with the 3G they wouldn’t be selling it. Got to the store only to find out from a Mac Genius that she was wrong and the only way to know (since they aren’t labeled) is to try. 1 hour wasted. Thanks.

So … I figured I just throw this out there …

Anyone know of a good FM Modulator that charges the iPhone 3G and doesn’t sound horrible? Right now I’m living with the warning that the USBFever.com FM Mod doesn’t work (because it does work) but it sounds terrible.

And finally just in case anyone is shopping for 3G power - I’ve found that the Griffin Power Duo sold at the Apple store works like a charm and is especially handy since it lets you charge in the car and provides a plug for you to use at work too. Now I’m never far from power … still stuck in accessory hell though.

iLounge Gives The Xtand A Look

Xtand

Just Mobile’s Xtand was a rare iPhone stand that really caught my eye a few weeks back, with its solid and strong looks, that had me thinking $50 didn’t seem that crazy for just a stand (maybe).

Nice to see that iLounge has now given the Xtand a once-over and seem pretty impressed with it.  Not a whole bunch to be said about a stand at the end of the day, but they seem impressed with the design and functionality of it:

The first piece, an iPhone cradle, holds the first-generation iPhone with rubberized corners and a molded aluminum frame, while the second piece is a curved stand that looks like Apple’s monitor stands, including a hole in the center for cable management

For more details and some very nice pics of it in use head over HERE

The only bad news - it’s only compatible with the V1 iPhone …
