FirstLook: OtterBox Impact for the iPhone 3G

IMG_0384

Yesterday OtterBox sent out a press release announcing the release of their new Impact Series skins for the iPhone 3G and the BlackBerry Bold. Now in typical fashion, I didn’t just want to post a news thing and call it good. HECK NO! Rather than do something simple like that… I thought I’d wait a day for my review unit to arrive - and so it has. So, click on through - I’ve got the full press release and a few more real live photos of this great new case! Full review coming soon… but not too soon.

Review: OtterBox Defender for iPhone 3G

IMG_0184

Fanboy is not a term I use lightly. I don’t consider myself a fanboy of Apple - maybe of the iPhone, and I usually don’t consider myself to be a fanboy of any particular brand of accessory. But, in this case I’m going to come right out and just tell you - I am a fanboy when it comes to OtterBox. This is now the second Defender series case I’ve owned (had one for the original iPhone) and like a fine wine this new version has only gotten better with age. The design changes are quite significant in the latest version and while it hasn’t been all roses (see the part where I hurt myself) - overall I’m still very impressed.

IMG_0185

Like the first iPhone version - the package content for the OtterBox is fairly thin. There isn’t a whole lot of documentation and there really doesn’t need to be since really this is a case and its fairly self explanatory on how you use it. Other than that you’re going to get an OtterBox sticker (love this) and the Defender itself.

Double Review: Sena iPhone Dockable Case and Sena UltraSlim Pouch

Resized 2 1

If you think about it it’s kinda funny that we love our high tech goods in leather. We’ve got all this shiny plastic and metal and we protect it with ridiculously old technology. But somehow it works, and it does a heck of a job protecting the device, too.

Today JAiB’s microscope falls upon the two cases from Sena for the iPhone (and iPhone 3G — for one of ‘em). One is a simple leather slip case and the other lets you dock without ever having to take the phone out of its protective shell. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Sena from friends of mine, so I was pretty anxious to check these cases out.

Hit the jump for a full review with lots of pictures.

Review: BodyGuardz for iPhone 3G

IMG_9653

So this one’s been a long time coming … like since the launch of the iPhone 3G. Hey, better late than never.

Story Time. Since the original iPhone I’ve been a big fan of skin style protection for my devices and during that time I’ve been a proponent of two specific products, the InvisibleShield by Zagg and the bestskinsever skins. These two companies have been on my list for two distinct reasons: Price (bestskinsever) and warranty (InvisibleShield). Now, truth is you’re likely not going to find a better deal price wise than bestskinsever. That’s just reality since they sell the skins at rock bottom prices and they are comparable to both InvisibleShield and BodyGuardz. However, when it comes to a shootout between the InvisibleShield and BodyGuardz, it quickly starts to turn into a deathmatch.

Why you ask? Well, because when you have two products similar in scope, price and warranty, you end up with the inevitable - constant comparisons and people who are on one side of the fence or another. So, rather than tell you which side I’m on, I’m going to give you a look at the product and let you make your own decisions.

QuickLook: JAVOedge JAVOSkin Case for iPhone 3G

Alright folks - I’m running way behind on getting this one out the door so I’ll keep things brief because I feel bad about not getting it done when I should have. Anyway, honest truth - I really like almost everything JAVOedge ends up sending us for review, not because they send me stuff, but because they consistently submit great products time and time again. Now, truth also be told I always find a few "trivial" things to complain about, but most times they really are just trivial kind of things that don’t usually hamper the product. They just keep me from sounding like I’m kissing tushy and this is going to be another one of those reviews - because the product is solid.</p>

IMG_9663

Naturally - like they always do, JAVOedge sent me one of each color to check out. So basically what you’re seeing in this shot is the backside of both the black skin and the white skin as well as the little poofy Micro Swipes they sent.

More after the jump….

When Patrick first wrote about the Xylo Touch-Thru (T2) case a few weeks ago I was intrigued.

While I have used (and liked) a number of cases that place a soft membrane over the screen of the iPhone, this case claimed to place a solid layer of protection over the screen while continuing to allow full access to, and use of, the touch screen.

I wondered if it really worked.

Did it live up to the hype?

Review: PDAir iPhone Vertical Pouch Type

imageI’ve always been a fan of a ‘naked’ phone (PDAs are another story) feel, but I’m pretty wary about keeping my device in my pocket because of how easily it can just slip out as I move about. I’m also quite worried about the wire of my Shure earphone adapter getting messed up as I sit down or move around with my iPhone in my pocket (my friend had to RMA his Shure adapter because of that).

So ladies and gentlemen of the mobile world, welcome to today’s review. Please hit the jump to read words I wrote and look at pictures I took of the vertical pouch case from PDAir.

Juuuuump!

Review- OtterBox Armor Series Case For iPhone

A few months ago I had the opportunity to review the Otterbox Defender Series Case for iPhone. It is an impressive case that adds a high degree of protection to the iPhone. Otterbox has now taken their commitment to protecting our precious devices to the next level with their new Armor Series Cases for iPhone and iPod.

The Armor Series cases provide even more protection from dust, dirt, drop and scratch than the Defender Series. In addition, they are waterproof and snowproof. (To read my review of the iPod case visit our “sister” site JustAnotherMobileMonday.)

How well does it protect the iPhone? With what other case could you do this—

Review- Prima’s Premium Leather Open Face iPhone Case

phone For the last two weeks I have had the opportunity to use the Premium Leather Open Face iPhone Case from Prima Leather. The case is thin, light and well made.

In fact, I found the actual case to be far better constructed than the website pictures indicate. The sleek design protects the phone while detracting little from its sleek appearance. In fact, in my opinion, the case adds to it.

So how does this $29.95 case stack up against the ever-increasing number of iPhone cases?

Read on and find out…

Review: Sena Magnetic Flipper Case for iPhone

senaflipper5 senaflipper1

I have long been a huge fan of Sena cases and have used them on a wide variety of devices. The high quality leather, the excellent workmanship, and the reasonable price all combine to make Sena cases among my favorites. The Sena Magnetic Flipper Case for iPhone I have been using for the last two weeks is no exception, and I’m really pleased to be able to review it here.

The Sena website describes the case in this way:

The MagnetFlipper is made of premium European leather and is specially designed for smartphones and other mobile devices. The MagnetFlipper offers device port openings, pocket(s) for business or credit cards, and slots for memory cards. Utilizing gravity, the cover is engineered with a hinged bottom and magnetic fastening system at top, thus allowing the cover to be flipped out of the way with a flick of the thumb and enabling the user to quickly answer the phone. Like all Sena accessories, the MagnetFlipper is custom designed for a myriad of devices, resulting in a slim and snug fit.
