My (5 year old) daughter has been taking to the iPhone like the proverbial duck to water. She’s been using my original 2G for the last few weeks. At first, she mostly played tons of games, and enjoyed quite a few ‘educational’ apps as well.
More recently, she’s also been using the iPhone camera and the Notes and Photos apps quite a bit. Since she has by now got comfortable with sending emails from the Notes app, and today learned about using the Mail app, I bit the bullet and setup an email account of her own for her today. And then I got this:
That was unprompted and after no help at all with the Notes app and very little guidance (very little!) on how to use the mail app. I’m not sure what the deal is with the periods after each word – I’ve asked her and been told ‘I like it, go away’ more or less
BTW, please don’t panic – I don’t plan on hitting you with frequent ‘Isn’t she adorable’ type posts (although I will continue reviewing iPhone apps for kids) – just couldn’t resist on this one …

this is the post of the month!
y y/o and already playing with an iPhone!?! I bet you that by the age of 12, she’ll be coding in cocoa
Oops, I meant “5 y/o” NOT “y y/o”…
Ragart – thanks mate! Early in the month though.
Sebastien – LOL, I think you may be right – must be very, very nice dad – so she’ll help me when I’m stuck on things
Ha, I appreciate the “I like it, go away”, wait till she’s in her teens
This is the winning feature of the Mac iPhone – it doesn’t take years of experience to figure them out.
Funny as all heck that GDGT latest Podcast (I think the one talking about Microsoft) spotlights that everyone on the discussion was not only a diehard Mac user but it’s the computer they would hands down gift to their parents.
pedah – teens = scary
mas90guru – I agree – I’ve never had another mobile device that is so effortless to get comfortable with, for adults or children alike …
