Gear Diary and a few other sites are reporting that AT&T’s free WiFi for iPhone users at Starbucks and elsewhere is no longer available. Wayne Schulz reports that:

AT&T appears to have disabled free iPhone access to their Wi-Fi network via your neighborhood Starbucks. I just stopped into the same Starbucks that previously allowed me free iPhone Wi-Fi access, and now I’m prompted for a password.

I haven’t had a chance to try a Starbucks or anywhere else this weeken, to see if I get the same results.  The reports I’ve seen so far are guessing this is just temporary as AT&T tests the WiFi access systems in preparation for rolling them out properly fairly soon.  Let’s hope that’s true …
