One of the most widely covered features in the new iPhone 3GS is the oleophobic coating on the screen to ward off oil. It would be terrible for fried chicken, but it seems to be working pretty well for iPhone users thus far. In case you were wondering about how all that anti-oiliness works, Gizmodo just posted a kickass guest piece from none other than Bill Nye the Science Guy himself: he mentions swimsuits, car wax, and even talks about the iPhone a little bit! I loved the Science Guy as a kid, and I don’t think anybody else is as qualified as he is to explain screen coating technology. Not even Bill Nighy the vampire guy.
