Jonathan Ive is Apple’s Senior VP of Industrial Design, and is renowned as the lead designer of products like the iPhone and iPod, the iMac, the unibody MacBook Pro, and many others.  This video clip shows him in a design lab talking about design principles in general, as well as specific ones relating to the iMac, iPhone and others. 

I think my favorite section is this one talking about the iPhone:

A lot of what we seem to be doing in a product like that is actually getting design out of the way. When forms develop with that sort of reason, it feels almost inevitable.  It feels almost un-designed. It feels almost like ‘well of course it’s that way, I mean why wouldn’t it be’.

Good! I’ve seen some of these videos and it proves the idea we use at Pixmac. Be good to your customers, tell them that you do the thing right and they will behave differently to you.
