Some notable numbers relating to iPhone that TechCrunch gathered during Apple’s 2010 first quarter financial results call:
8.7 million iPhones – 100% growth versus year ago.
Added 17 new carriers throughout the world in the quarter.
86 countries for iPhone distribution
Japan, UK, Australia, France, Germany growth is strong.
70% of Fortune 200 companies deploying iPhones to employees
For me, the one that leaps off the page is the deployment of iPhones in Fortune 200 companies. 70% is a huge number. Especially for a platform that’s supposed to have no ‘enterprise’ appeal.

I think that's not exactly how we should understand it. I think it means that 70% of Fortune 200 are trying out the iPhone. It's not like they're taking blackberries off their employees to give them iPhones. Does that make sense?
That's exact;y how I read it as well. Deploying means testing / rolling out for possible adoption somewhere within a company. I never said anything about replacing Blackberries or other devices. The 70% is still very impressive though, again for a device / platform that is thought to have no enterprise pull.
