It’s not every day that we get to write about fans. After all, Schuyler Skaats Wheeler’s original two-blade design has seen little to no innovation in the past 127 years. That is until James Dyson decided to do the impossible by making a bladeless, nonbuffeting fan. The Air Multiplier pulls in air through the base and propels it out through a circular airfoil-shaped ramp that runs along the inside of the halo.

And with that, the Dyson Air Multiplier finishes ahead of the iPhone 3GS in Time Magazine’s list of the Top 10 Gagdets of 2009.  It kicks the 3GS into fourth place.  How the iPhone has fallen eh – beaten out by a fan.

I mean, fair enough that fan probably had MMS and tethering before the iPhone 3GS – but how many apps does it have???

The Number 1 gadget of the year is the Droid – which Time calls Android’s first credible challenge to the iPhone.  Hopefully that will prove true, as the iPhone could do with a bit of serious competition.

Overall it’s a pretty interesting list – worth a look HERE if you get a chance.

I used a Droid this weekend in a Verizon store while waiting for a friend to exchange her Storm2 for a better phone. I found the Droid to be often non-responsive, non-intuitive and very ‘cheap’ feeling. Add to that the fact that Verizon sees no problem in trying to nickel and dime you for every ‘feature’ you want as a monthly premium…

As stank as AT&T’s network is, I’m staying with MaBell and her shenanigans. At least its the devil I know…

Cool – and promise us you won't be buying any fans to replace your iPhone either. :)

What a stupid article. When you put a freaking fan above the iPhone, you lose all credibility in my eyes.
