Quickoffice

Quickoffice is the first real office suite app to come out for the iPhone, and offers the ability to both view and (much more interestingly) edit MS Word and Excel documents on the iPhone.  It also carries a big price tag (in the context of current App Store pricing) of $19.99 – so many of you may be keen to know what good reviewers think of this app before looking at a purchase.

If so, you’re in luck today.  Walt Mossberg – of The Wall Street Journal and the AllThingsD site – has got a review up of Quickoffice, and he’s not fully sold on it yet.

But there’s a catch. While Quickoffice, which is also available on other platforms, did work OK in my tests, it has some major drawbacks that keep me from recommending it right now. The product’s maker, Quickoffice Inc., acknowledges these and is working to fix them by summer.

It’s worth reading the whole review, as he points out many strengths of the suite of apps, as well as some weaknesses as indicated in the above quote.  It’s a good look at each of the apps in the suite, and you never know, the flaws that Mossberg points out may not be big hitters for your needs. In any case, the review should be helpful in deciding on this app. Check it out HERE
