Funky monkey. My dad got a bill for around $77 today for 17MB worth of data on my sister’s hand-me-down iPhone 2G. As you can probably tell by the charge, it doesn’t have a data plan. I gave it to her to use on the day I received my 3GS, but it turns out the EDGE switch (using Bossprefs) that I flipped to off didn’t really work.
I’m pretty dumbfounded, since the iPhone is completely unable to check mail, weather, or surf Safari. It’s not even syncing with any kind of Exchange contacts service. So somehow the iPhone has downloaded and uploaded a ghostly 17MB of data — and the other half of the bill has yet to come. It’s not a carrier mess-up per se, but I really wonder how the phone exchanged nearly 20MB of information with the Internet if it can’t even check the temperature. Ah well, looks like the only foolproof solution is to call the carrier for a data block or make sure the phone’s APN is set to a null profile. I might do both.

Maybe Push Notifications is the culprit. 17 MB seems reasonable an amount for such a service to consume on a whole month.
Recently your blog is getting really boring.
1. A iPhone that isn’t jailbroken isn’t a iPhone – can’t believe you stayed away from a Jailbreak that long.
2. You come up with news that are so old that my beard is grewing fast than a blizzard. For god’s sake use sbsettings and install the apn toggle… in addition you directly see if there is a data connection or not. BossPrefs is fine but outdatet since sbsettings is there.
3. think twice before blogging.
Sorry the blog is boring you lately. As for staying away from jailbreak 'that long' not sure what you're basing that on – as several of us who write here have run our phones jailbroken since back in 1.x firmware days. I can also say that any iPhone running the 3.0 firmware is a helluva good smartphone, with or without jailbreak.
