sold_out

Bad news for folks hoping a pre-order would save them from that yearly camp out in front of their local Apple Store: iPhone 3G S pre-orders have sold out, and folks who are making new pre-orders are being told that they’ll have up to two weeks to get a phone. AT&T customers who do already have pre-orders in still have to line up at 7AM to nab a phone, but at least they’ve got a guaranteed slot if they show up …

That’s an excerpt from Engadget Mobile’s report today on AT&T’s iPhone 3GS pre-order pipeline running dry already.  I’m so glad I ordered a couple days ago.  Also have a feeling that this year’s iPhone sales are going to be huge – between this new model and that $99 3G.  I really wouldn’t be surprised to see long lines at Apple and AT&T stores again either …

Update: It seems it’s only AT&T that is old out on pre-orders for delivery by 6/19 – not Apple. Post title and text amended to reflect this.

I ordered mine (3Gs, 32G, white) last week from Apple.

Have a gen 1 iPhone & have loved it (with few exceptions, as mine had some issues with "stuck" keys, battery, etc.). Never felt 3G was worth the upgrade & have been waiting for 3.0 for what seems like forever.

Can't wait to see how it looks, feels & works! Just hope the migration from one iPhone to the other will be fairly painless, as in the past this has meant wiped out home screens. Also not thrilled with the new iTunes rules. I have a MacBook & iMac, it really irks me that I can't seemlessly sync on BOTH machines. :-(

Re:Synching on two machines:
Why not? Just select the merge option. The only thing new I've heard of is that there were people giving their friends free copies of their apps by letting their friends log in using their iTunes acct on their personal phones. To combat this, an iPhone cannot log in to another iTunes acct unless it has synced with that acct at least once.

And oh yeah… When is June 19 going to get here already!

Cheryl – I can't wait either – going to be a long 5 days.
