From the sound of the latest tweets from GeoHot this afternoon / evening, it seems like we may see his new ‘jailbreak that will jailbreak them all’ may be coming tomorrow – in line with his ‘2 days’ comments yesterday.

I had to update to 3.1 because my phone magically quit working after I updated Erica Utilities on Cydia.
I hope we see the carrier logos intact

After updating prematurely, then being blessed with a 3.0 refurb exchange, I have to exchange again due to a bum camera. I'm really hoping George pulls through.
Though every time I see his picture I think of the Lord of The Rings trilogy….

According to jailbreak history, which has said that when updating, the only risk you have is a baseband update that may prevent unlock but jailbreak and even downgrading (not baseband) is still a possibility, I went ahead and updated when 3.1 came out because I'm on the official U.S. carrier of AT&T beginning with 3GS. Needless to say, I was quite upset when I found out that Apple cut off my downgrade path! I'm eagerly awaiting a 3.1 jailbreak option.
Yup, I've never been unlocked and hve no desire to be. I thought that having saved the iBEC and iBSS files I had gone a ways towards safeguarding a 3.1 jailbreak – had not followed the news on the need to save files to Saurik's server closely enough. In any case, like you I'm very much looking forward to a 'clean' jailbreak for 3.1 on the 3GS.
