QuickReply from Ghaurav Khanna is just that: a quick and simple solution for those times that you receive an important text in the middle of something equally important (say, a round of Tilt to Live). Instead of the useless default SMS pop-up, QuickReply shows you something very similar to what iRealSMS and biteSMS do, so you can simply respond to any text without leaving the app you were in.
However, QuickReply takes things one step further by featuring mini conversation support — so if your friend is spitfiring text messages at you before you can even answer one, you won’t be overwhelmed by pop-ups that cancel out what you were just typing. This little feature is what makes Quick Reply such a big winner in my books.

Install
Installation is dead simple: aside from purchasing the app for $2.99 on Rock, there was virtually no setup time with QuickReply. I simply installed the app and the next message I received showed up within QuickReply’s specialized pop-up.
Extra options
The pop-up window allows you to respond, close, or view your contract thread within the default SMS app. However, you can replace the “view” button with a “call” button if you’re one of those people who calls people right after receiving a message. You can even add contact pictures to the upper-right corner if you want to, although contacts without a picture will still display normally.
Recent Update: landscape support!
I had tried the trial version of QuickReply a few months ago, and although I was very happy with it, it was still missing one crucial feature: landscape support. Luckily for me, that was added just this March, and so Ghaurav Khanna’s little messaging mod is now a perfect little package.
Conversation view
The big jailbreak messaging apps, iRealSMS and biteSMS, both feature full SMS clients that replace the default from Apple, as well as quick compose and quick reply windows. However, one thing that these apps are terrible at is following a conversation, which is something the humble QuickReply excels at. You’ll still see one box for an initial text message, but if you receive another text while you’re still replying to the first, the newer message will show up in-line, as if you were actually in the SMS app. This is a big time saver, since all the other apps and tweaks that I’ve tried will simply throw another pop-up at you, much like new push notifications tend to punch each other out of the way so they can be foremost on screen. Simply put, QuickReply is a more civil approach to threaded messaging outside of an SMS app, and it’s wonderful.
Conclusion
QuickReply hasn’t caused any noticeable slowdowns or memory leaks on my iPhone 3GS, and I have even run it in tandem with iRealQuickSMS (for the quick compose feature) without any problems. It’s a great little modification for those who find it ridiculous that you have to leave an app to reply to a simple text, and the conversation feature can even come in handy for users that already own the bigger jailbreak SMS apps.

Yep. I love this app. I have tried Bite SMS and think its fabulous. But, for my rather limited Text Messaging usage, Quick Reply totally rocks – and for a lot less money. 5 star rating from me.
