I read that there was some controversy on the actual application development as Apple thought it would &#039;confuse&#039; people if you had two Map icons...so instead were stuck with the less than useful Safari version. On the Google blog announcing it was less than &#039;positive&#039; towards the required development of a second version at Apple&#039;s request. Interesting reading:
