Store-Extend for iPhone

Like many of you, I’m a major iPhone apps junkie, and I’m always on the lookout for more and better ways to discover more and better apps.  Store-Extend is the 3rd app I’m aware of that specializes in helping you do just that – as in, find those ‘hidden gem’ type apps and discounts on quality apps that are so good to come across.

And it’s a very good one as well – with maybe the best look and feel of any of the apps I’ve tried in this category.

Store-Extend lets you browse around via its main tabbed sections at the bottom of its screen – which are:

Top – as the name suggests, top, most popular apps in the store with separate paid and free sections

Categories – look around via app categories – and within each category, there are sub-sections for paid, free, discounted (and an ability to display them ordered by release date)

Discount – listings of current / recent discounted apps (again with paid and free sub-sections)

Most Recent – as the name would suggest

Search – if you don’t find something in the other sections, try here

When you tap on an individual app that interests you, you get a nice big screen with its full App Store description, screencaps, a download link that will take you straight to its App Store page, a big button to add the app to your Favorites list, and even a clever ‘See Also’ area that will show you a Lite version of an app if one is available, and similar.

You also get a very good, clear indicator of when an app is currently being offered at a discount, via a ‘Promo’ stripe in red across the top right – in both individual app page and apps listing views …

One thing I’m not a fan of with Store-Extend is its name.  I think it’s awkward, and hope maybe the developers will come up with something punchier in future.

There are two other good apps that I know of for finding App Sore bargains and hidden treasures:  AppMiner, which is my joint favorite along with Store-Extend, and Bargain Bin, which I like a little less, due mainly to the fact that it forces you to jump out to the App Store each time you select an app to have a closer look at.

You can find Store-Extend in the App Store now, and it’s a free app (as are the other two mentioned above).

Great post! I'm going to check it out. I'm currently using PandoraBox and I like it a lot. I'll compare it to Store-Extend. :)
