I don’t experiment much with iPhone cases, and I’ve had mostly good luck with the few I have used over the years. This morning I just read a post by Larry Greenberg over at Gear Diary that provides a cautionary tale if you are considering a case from a company called Rebel Scholar.
The long story short is that the case Larry got, the ‘Door Gods’ model shown above, looks nothing like what’s shown above in real life – at least not on the case that Larry got. And it would seem it’s not just a one-off or a fluke, as the response from Rebel Scholar when Larry emailed them was pretty lame and unhelpful – a lot of nonsense about how the case appears in different lighting conditions (none of which is mentioned in the Rebel Scholar site’s description of the case).
Anyway, as I said, I don’t often go looking for new cases – but if you do, you may want to give Larry’s post a look HERE – and maybe steer clear of at least that particular case.

Also they are threatening to sue him for posting his review. So much for free speech!
Yikes – I didn't realize that. Stupid.
They actually refer to his post as "defamation" although Larry backed up his statements with lots of pictures. Moreover, it seems the images on the site have been changed and are a bit more in line with what Larry photographed. If there was no truth to what Larry said why change the image?
Last, I did a quick look on Twitter and found that while there are some people who are happy with their cases there are a number of complaints too- more than I've see regarding other case at least.
Glad to hear they changed the images on their site. I know lots of product shots are pretty heavily 'shopped' and made pretty in whatever ways, but those really struck me as very misleading – as Larry rightfully pointed out.
