Got my 3Gs at the end of June and have yet to put a case on it. Always had a case on the other 2 iPhones. Just can't seem to find just the right one, but the Seidio case looks pretty sweet.

Another great contest. It seems like I go through a ton of cases to find just the right one.

For narrow escapes, why does it also seem that my Iphone lands face down no matter what case I have the phone in.

my iPhone almost took a dip into the vat of movie theater butter when I went with a buddy to see Inglourious Basterds… I was showing him an update on Twitter from a friend of ours and he bumped my arm… sending my iPhone flying towards that catch all drain / vat thing under the self serve butter… luckily my (semi?) cat like reflexes kicked in and I bobbled it in the air for what seemed like about 30 seconds (probably really 1 -2 secs) and then caught it against a strangers chest…. luckily she had a sense of humor about it!

These contests are wonderful. I am on the lookout for a new case anyway. This is just a bonus. The Seidio case looks awesome.

Cases look awesome. Near death, I had my iPhone on my lap in the car. When I got out of the car I forgot it was there. It fell with the backside of the iPhone facing the ground, thank GOD it was not the screen!!!!

Could always use a case…I haven't quite gotten around to getting one yet.
Near death: I was doing some summer reading at the poolside when a tennis ball hit my iPhone off the table and sent it flying towards the pool, luckily a guy was walking by and caught it.

Count me in! I came dang near close to dropping my iPhone in the toilet on time. Needless to say I am very careful now.

just incase, my wife would love a purple case…

9 Larry August 26, 2009 at 11:03 pm

Enter me! Nice cases.

Near experience – I was getting out of my car thinking my phone was in my pocket – it was on my lap! Luckily I had a case on it and no damage – I gasped as if I dropped my kid!

ooohhhh I need a good case. my story is this. i bought my iphone 3g 8 gb in march 2009. I have had to send it back twice so far! I then noticed that my apple warranty was showing january 2010 as the expiration. they said that it was because of the "refurb" phone they sent was activated in January of 2009. I complained that they were ripping me off two months of warranty. One hour and 40 minutes later they admitted their error and the guy apologized for keeping me on hold for so long, he upgraded me to a new 16gb white 3g S for my troubles. So I am on my fourth phone since March. does that count for anything..hehehe. BTW………..love your site. very informative.

I've never used an Iphone case. I've only used skins to protect my iphone. I've often thought about using a case but I don't think that would help either in my lucky swipe which hit my iphone out of the way from falling in the toilet after falling out of my front pocket. Needless to say I don't ever put it in my from shirt pocket anymore.

12 DrummerGeek August 26, 2009 at 11:41 pm

I need a new case.

13 Raucko August 27, 2009 at 12:08 am

Been lucky so far.

14 Brett August 27, 2009 at 12:32 am

I dropped my old iPhone in the effing ocean. It was completely submerged for 10 seconds. The screen did some wild screensaver looking shit and turn off. The next day it booted up just fine. What a tank of a phone!

15 JJRock August 27, 2009 at 12:38 am

Hook a brutha up. Take my phone to the dumper a lot and it almost goes swimming with the kids.

I would love to win!

My first gen iPhone I had last April died horribly – I was getting it out of my pocket and I fumbled with it, and it went plop on hard cement. The seconds I saw it in the air in front of me and I couldn't catch it in time to prevent it from falling were the longest seconds of my life. It fell face down and when I went to pick it up, it was shattered on the screen in spiderweb form, starting from the lower right corner, where the impact occured.

Saddest day of my life. Didn't last four months, even.

18 Jesse Jones August 27, 2009 at 2:12 am

I have, on multiple occasions, been in the restroom and when I went to flush the toilet, my iPhone has slipped out of my grubby little hands, plunging in slow-motion towards to liquid bowl of death. Only my cat-like reflexes and well-studied ninja skills have saved the day.

Count me in!

19 Kerry August 27, 2009 at 2:12 am

Both of those do look nice…

Not my story, but I did have a buddy who drove around block with his phone on the roof of his car. Didn't notice it was gone until he hit a stop sign. Fortunately his rubber case held it on the roof.

Looks like nice cases to me! Would of course like to win. :)
The near death experience was a trilogy for us. We went to the beach and set up on top of an embankment high above the water. Unforunately there was a high wave event. I told my husband that water looked close and then a wave came in and touched the tip of our blanket. "We're fine" he said. I moved our stuff back several feet. The next series of waves proceeded to wash over where we had been. "wow" he said. The water still seemed closer to me. "Were fine now" he said. I built a small berm with sand to "protect us". "were fine he said". Water came up to my ridgeline and washed it away. "See it works were fine" he said. The next wave/flood came in without warning and i watched my shoes the blanket and various other belongings wash out to sea. As i screamed my husband barely grabbed my gadget bag before his chair washed away. Silence.

sweet I call dibs xD

22 Feline August 27, 2009 at 3:34 am

need a case too

23 Stephen August 27, 2009 at 3:34 am

My near death experience involved an AT&T Tilt, a hot cup of coffee, and a stairway. Needless to say, I was thankful for the Seidio case it was in. Protected the phone down 8 steps of unforgiving concrete. Worked fine after the drop. As such, I won't buy a device until I know that a quality case exists. Seidio covers most of my stuff!.

24 Shobizz3000 August 27, 2009 at 3:59 am

Gave my incipio case to my boss because he had the UGLIEST case in world on his 3G. i sure do miss it, it was definitely my favorite case. But seidio looks even nicer. Would love to get my hands on that one.
Well i'm an avid boater, so over the years I have let many a phone, and a 2G go swimming. The best had to be me standing up near the back of the boat as my friend took off!! Needless to say I went head first over the back fully clothed…phone in pocket!

25 James August 27, 2009 at 5:44 am

This case really looks awsome. I hope I get it

26 Flunky Carter August 27, 2009 at 6:48 am

My friend, who's much shorter than i am jumps to try to touch the basketball rim. I try to one up him, actually touch the rim and do a pull up and lift my knees up… well my phone fell outta my pocket. Guess who was having the last laugh. Glass shattered and I had no protection on it. :(

27 Sam August 27, 2009 at 7:27 am

Got a case currently, but not really happy with it, that Seidio case looks really nice.

My Iphone almost went flying, quite literally: opened up my car, put some stuff on the car roof before leaving (had to reorganise some junk before boarding). Finally finished, started the engine and started travelling. Then realised I had forgotten to take my Iphone off the roof! Amazingly, it was still there, and I was able to retrieve it. Thank goodness I hadn't gotten very far before I remembered, otherwise it would have been byebye Iphone :s

I'm sorry that this one couldn't be extended outside the US, sometimes that is just not viable for us. I hope we'll be able to offer other contests in future where there is not a US-only restriction. I'm sorry that you feel you no longer want to visit the site.

Case me up!

32 Brad Plevyak August 27, 2009 at 10:52 am

Would love a chance at one of these beautiful cases, my invisible shield is falling off after a year of use, so it's time for something a little more durable. Thanks for running the site and the contest, I'd love to try one of these cases. Thanks!

33 Brad Plevyak August 27, 2009 at 10:54 am

My iphone death story is similar to many others – Let the lesson be learned, do NOT put the phone on your lap in a car! As soon as I got out, DOWN it went….Glass side first onto my concrete garage floor. The phone was just in an invisible shield, not in a protective case, and amazingly it did NOT crack (it should have). I sure learned my lesson that day!

34 mizuhri August 27, 2009 at 12:29 pm

I was coming back from the store and I had 2 12 packs of soda and my phone in my hand. I was wearing basketball shorts with no pockets. I was caring them, one in each hand and my phone in my right hand. I was walking and the iphone was slipping. I don't have a case on it so I was trying to grip it. I squeezed my hand and made it slip out like a bar of soap. As it was going to the asphalt ground I kicked my leg out to try and stop it from a direct hit on the ground. I kick it out the phone landed on my foot and stayed on it. I dropped my foot to the ground very slowly and pick it up. I saved my iPhone from a possible shattering.

35 Kelly August 27, 2009 at 2:31 pm

i had just gotten my 3GS …it was a rainy day and i was rushing to open my umbrella and get into the post office before they closed. I thought i put my phone in my pocket. as i stood in line i was scrambling through my pockets trying to find my phone, and then thought "well maybe i left it in the car".

i leave the post office and go to my car, and something white on the ground caught my eye…my brand new 3GS on the ground, in the rain for at least 5 minutes.

thankfully it still works, with just a few scratches. but i was more thankful that no one saw it and took it for themselves.

I would like to win a new case! :-)

iPhone near death experience: Hmmm….I'll pick the most dramatic, and it might helps someone avoid the same traumatic event. I plug my iPhone in to synch and charge. Even if I hung the cable, it often ended up dropping. The cable dropped and I found a design flaw in the iPhone connector, that I imagine Apple did not consider. I had a plug that had come loose just a bit. The narrow, but wide, iPhone plug slipped in, contacted the two prongs of the plug, and the electricity arced across it. I have a black and melted spot on the plug, and needed to get a new cord. Any new cord contests? ;-) Luckily the computer survived.

37 babylonlarry August 27, 2009 at 10:41 am

I got a bodyglove generic vinyl case with a clear plastic window that I can slip my iPhone into. It has an inner back and top with a drawstring. It is awkward to get the phone out of the bag to answer a call. The one plus is that I can slip my earbuds in the case behind the inner back.
I would love to try a case that is purpose made to keep around an iPhone while in use, so Here's my hat in the ring for this contest.
