Hey – we’ve got a great weekend contest for you – with 5 free copies of a very cool iPhone app up for grabs! Thanks to the nice folks at DDH Software, we’ve got 5 copies of HanDBase – a powerful database application for the iPhone – to giveaway.
HanDBase lets you work with databases on the iPhone and even create new DBs on it as well, and syncs wirlelessly with your desktop (Mac or PC). Here’s a little better description from the DDH site:
HanDBase is a light and fast relational database manager for handheld computing devices, PDAs, smartphones and desktops which offers data entry, searching, sorting, filtering, printing and synchronization across a wide variety of handheld computing devices, PDAs, smartphones and desktop computers.
HanDBase sells for $9.99 in the App Store, so this is already a very sweet giveaway offer from DDH, but they’re making it even better by also providing each winner with a free copy of the Desktop Add-ons for Plus app, (which lets you edit and work with your databases on the desktop (Mac or PC) and provides a conduit to wirelessly sync with the iPhone). This app normally goes for $14.99.
Read on for some more details on HanDBase and how to get entered for a chance to win …
Here’s a little graphic from the DDH site that shows just some of the things you can do with HanDBase:
Of course, this only scratches the surface. The fact is that you can create your own custom data based applications in minutes using HanDBase and begin tracking whatever important information you need to be more productive and more mobile.
So there you have it – a very versatile database app to work with, and one that’s been an established mobile leader for a long time:
For over a decade, HanDBase has become the favored mobile database for Palm, Windows Mobile, BlackBerry and Symbian devices as DDH Software developed versions for each platform.
Now on to how you get a chance to win this free software …
How To Win:
Simple really. Just add a comment to this post telling us how you’d use a database on your iPhone / desktop and you’ve got one entry.
For an extra two entries tell us about a new year’s resolution that you could track and manage with a database program.
Please use an email address along with your comment that is one you use and check spam folders on, so that we can let you know promptly if you win.
That’s it. On Monday at 1:00 Central we’ll randomly select five winners – who will each receive promo codes for HanDBase and Desktop Add-ons for Plus – and announce our winners shortly afterwards.
Once you’ve got your entry in, or if you need ideas for your entry, take a few minutes and check out the DDH iPhone section – and get a feel for what you can do with HanDBase.
Good luck to all …

Well, my parents just brought me all my old Comic Books from when I was a kid as they were cleaning their house. I would love to set up a record of all the comics I have and try and put my childhood memories in a nice database!
As for my new years resolution, I’m really trying to eat healthier. I’d love an easy way to keep track of what I eat…almost like a food journal database, to really track my progress.
This would be just what I need. I am Diabetic and have used several blood glucose recording applications but none of them are quite what I need. I need something that I can search to make it easier to find trends so that I can manage my Diabetes better.
As for a New Years resolution goes, I made a promise to myself and family to take better care of my Diabetes. I really haven’t been and my health is showing it. Like I told my kids, I’d kinda like to see them grow up and have families of their own.
Thanks,
Twisted
As a user previously on the Palm platform, I’d love to see use this on the iPhone, particularly if the desktop app has been updated to be more Mac like. I have about ten databases, lists of logins, books to read, email account etc.
In my work I need information handy for 1004 retail stores and many vendors of various services for each. It is not always convenient book up my laptop when in the field. Handbase would be a great tool.
A database app would be a great addition to the “mobile office”. One that could help keep track of clients, orders, and bring peace of mind to a small business owner would be great! My new years resolution is to spend more time with the family. The more I can take with me away from the office the better!
A database to store details of all my contacts that I don’t want to store in the iphone contacts list, too many of them that I don’t contact regularly but i’d still like to keep details with me just in case.
My new years resolution is to get healthier, a food/exercise journal database would be ideal.
This would be super to win for my son!He is a musician and has contacts spread from one thing to another always hunting them.He could have everything in one place,clients,contacts,numbers..!

Looking for an iPhone App to work alongside my companys CRM application, so that I will be able to have more detailed information about my customers when on the road!
I have put as a new years resolution to be better to prioritize my day – which I definately think will be possible with a better CRM-like app for my iPhone!
i used handdbase on a palm, i think 10 years ago i it was good already. Now it would be great to have it again amongst other thing to keep a food / calorie journal and slim a bit down (new years resolution)

I’d like to keep track of my daughters books with this app, in addition to many other things the LONG list of suggested uses from the picture above.
One of my New Years Resolutions is to curb impulse purchases. This appliaction should help me keep track of “wants” and “needs” with a date stamp, and after a set period of time, relative to product price, if I still want an item, i can evaluate the purchase and proceed or cancel.
I just got my iPhone yesterday and looking for a grocery list app and now I might just win it….OK by me!
In Tahoe experienced sushi for the first time. This place was incredible. Incredible food but also an incredible chef, who is also the owner fused to create an experience I’ve not yet found.
Having returned to my home in Oregon I want to keep track of every sushi restaurant in town. My ultimate hope is to find that incredible fusion of personal touch with impeccable creation and presentation. As I experience each establishment I’ll me writing a review and cataloging many items (hours of operation, location, how accessible by car, bike and public transit, seating, decor, staff commentary, menu commentary, pro and cons, chef ratings, that will be weight to give a final overall score.
As the review is compiled I’ll upload the name, address, score and reviews to a website so that my friends and the rest of the sushi addicts in my town can access my experiences.
dangergirl – sorry, but this contest ended back on Monday the 12th of Jan. We’ll be running more contests soon though …
