[Update: Reader Quycky asked about settings and syncing issues, and although I can still sync and am still functioning at full speed on the 3GS, I am unable to sync 3.1.3 apps to iTunes. I can install them through the iPhone App Store, but they simply won't sync to iTunes on my Mac. I see an error stating that the Mac isn't authorized even though it is, and it also seems to detect that the iPhone isn't actually on 3.1.3.]
Shhh. I upgraded to firmware 3.1.3, but not really. Keep in mind, though: this tweak only applies to iPhones on 3.1.2.
BigBoss released a tweak on Cydia (and consequently Rock) yesterday that fools both your iPhone and iTunes into thinking your 3.1.2 device is actually on the latest, feature-less, firmware. You won’t gain any new features, but you won’t be hassled to upgrade, and you’ll also be able to purchase 3.1.3 apps like Attic, which simply don’t work on older firmware versions.
However, if you should have any trouble with this tweak, make sure to check this post before doing anything.

I've heard that this tweak can mess up your iPhone (missing general settings, firmware not recognized anymore by iTunes, general slowdown of the device…). Has anyone experienced that ?
