Another day, another set of very impressive numbers for iPhone sales last year.  This time it’s numbers released by The NPD Group, for total phone sales in the US in 2007, and total smartphone sales in the US last year.

Apple’s rank in total phone sales was 6th in the US, at 2.5% of the market, despite being on sale for just half the year.  On total smartphone sales numbers in the US in 2007, they’re at 19.1%.

Again, pretty dazzling numbers considering they were only involved for half the year.  Recently I’ve seen many articles reporting sales lagging a bit in 2008 – so it will be interesting to see how the iPhone’s first full year figures pan out.
