Not a great surprise here, as there’s been lots of talk of SlingPlayer coming to the iPhone for ages now, but it’s nice to see a di
rect quote from one of the folks at Sling Media confirming that they are giving this a good long look.
Dave Zatz of Sling Media told iLounge in an email, “We were definitely one of those 100,000 who downloaded the iPhone SDK, which we’re currently evaluating. We know it’s a hot platform and we’ll see what our options are.”
Presumably one of the biggest hurdles in getting Slingbox access on the iPhone is its low-speed Edge connectivity, though hopefully something can be done with running it only when a WiFi connection is available.

hmmm well I guess it would be ok on wifi but I just don’t see much use for it on the current iPhone with EDGE. I have a slingbox that I used with my Treo and Tilt, but they were 3g devices. I want slingbox for when I’m at the deer lease, on vacation, etc, places that don’t have wifi. Slingbox on EDGE? not too exciting to me. 3g iPhone hurry up!
Yeah, I don’t reckon it would up to much on Edge either. Hopefully 3G is not far off
