It’s been a few weeks since we had any lovely iPhone rumors to comment on – with the launch of the 3.0 OS and the iPhone 3GS giving us a chance to think about reality rather than conjecture.  But just like the NFL, the iPhone rumors off-season is quite short and there’s a very lovely one this weekend, courtesy of the Boy Genius Report, from a ‘pretty reliable source’.

Something else that will most likely make a bunch of people happy is that we’ve been told iTunes 9 will finally include the ability to visually organize and arrange your iPhone and iPod touch applications.

There’s really no more detail than that right now, but BGR are often accurate with that rumors – and I would certainly vote a huge YES to this one if we could just make them true via ballot.

The screencap top of this post is from a concept video we posted about way back in February, which showed how organizing apps and home screens via iTunes could work.  I say Yes Please – what about all of you?

Cool – I think there'd be lots of us in that group. :)

Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes.

Please, please, please, please.

I mean, that would be cool, I guess.

Please let this be true!

LOL mitch and Lesley – you sound just a little anxious to see this one too. :)

I think they may mean organizing apps within iTunes (just like music today w/ categores, list view, etc.) — not on the iPhone itself. Currently you can't do anything with apps within iTunes.

Oh, I hope not. That would strike me as almost entirely pointless and useless. That is fine for music, as iTunes is the medium for playing it as well, but for apps that would be of no real benefit to me at all.

Yes, this would be nice to have on my phone…

Hi Ron – good to see you here – and glad to see another Yes vote for this. :)

It is just astonishing that a device as sophisticated as the iphone doesn't have category tabs like all the less sophisticated devices. It is ironic that it makes my iphone look like a disorganized "desktop" on a PC….

Yikes, sad but true – it is a bit like a disorganized desktop.

This capability and more has always been available on jailbroken phones ie: Categories etc.

True, I've seen and tried Categories but never liked it much, and it can cause issues if you're not careful before restoring to stock.
