Brushes iPhone app

Brushes – the incredible painting application for the iPhone – has been updated, to Version 2.0.  The big headline new feature is the addition of layers.  Here’s a little more detail on what’s new in this update:

Layers. Brushes now supports up to 4 layers. You can import multiple photos, adjust layer opacity, merge, reorder layers, and copy and paste them between paintings. Enhanced Brush panel. Toggle between brush mode and erase mode. Adjust paint opacity within the brush panel. Enhanced zooming. Zoom in up to 1600%. Double tap to quickly toggle between 100% and your preferred zoom level. – Stability improvements. Fixes crashes that could occur on iPhone OS 3.0.

Brushes is already used by many tremendous artists to produce outstanding iPhone artwork.  I imagine this update should be a very welcome one for all those talented folks who get such great use out of the app.

If you’d like to get a feel for some of the amazing stuff being done with Brushes, check out the Brushes Gallery Flickr group – HERE – or even take a little look at our baby sister site that focuses on iPhone art, HERE.

Is there a forthcoming comparison of the implementation of layers between Brushes and Layers apps?

I hope someone qualified may do that soon. I am a staunch admirer of Brushes, but I am about as artistic as a pet rock, sadly. :)
