Looks like Mobile Twitter – a very good and popular iPhone jailbreak Twitter client – will not be coming to the App Store:

Unfortunately the short answer is no – the long answer is:  I built MobileTwitter because the current solutions available for the iPhone at the time didn’t cut it, in terms of usability, iPhone-like UI, and features.

It is widely known that Iconfactory will be releasing the iPhone version of Twitterific (and Twinkle will also be making an appearance to the AppStore at launch I suspect) – I am fully expecting/hoping that IconfactoryÕs iPhonemobiletwitter1 Twitterific will be satisfactory, and I plan to be using it myself.

That’s straight from developer Nicholas Pike’s site.  Interesting to note that  Nicholas does say that if the expected native Twitter apps aren’t up to scratch, then he will look to bring out an official (App Store) version of Mobile Twitter.

Better still, he also says he has plans to release other apps in the store once he is accepted into Apple’s developer program (which by all accounts is pretty logjammed leading up to the App Store launch) – and that he plans to continue to maintain Mobile Twitter for the jailbreak environment.

Here’s hoping he gets his Apple approval soon, and looking forward to seeing his future applications for the iPhone platform.
