The much-awaited update to the Facebook app for the iPhone has been submitted to the App Store for approval. Version 3.0 sounds like a pretty major update, with some notable new features according to TechCrunch:

That means that shortly, we’ll have access to the much-improved app which is scheduled to have features such as a News Feed that is more like the one on Facebook’s site, the ability to “like” items and a new customizable home screen. More importantly, it will also have video support for the iPhone 3GS, something which Hewitt threw-in at the last second, unexpectedly. And perhaps best of all, the app will have the ability to manage events, finally.

I’m a very infrequent user of Facebook, so I’ll wait to hear from some of you on which features you’re most looking forward to or wanting to see in the new version.

I think most folks reckon Facebook's big name / brand will see them through the queue pretty quickly :)
