I’m definitely NOT a gamer.   I’ve never played Tap Tap Anything, skipped over Bandicoot, and not even Texas Hold ‘Em gets much screen time anymore.  All that is about to change, however, as I eagerly await Star Wars: Trench Run.

One of my favorite arcade games from my youth was the Star Wars console game that allowed you (in gorgeous 8-bit vector graphics glory) to engage TIE fighters and make this same run down the trench of the Death Star.    Soon, we’ll be able to have the same experience on the iPhone, whereupon my productivity will precipitously decline to essentially zero for a period of time.   The game will feature accelerometer based flight controls, sounds and scenes from the movie, and “Force Power” – which at first glance appears to be Luke Skywalker’s version of “bullet time”.   You will be able to battle TIE fighters both in the trenches and above the Death Star.   Bring it.

Start Wars: Trench Wars will hit the App Store “soon” with a price of $4.99.

If it is anything like the old intellivision game, it will be well worth the price. Hate to think of how many hours I set in front of the TV trying to destroy the death star, and how many times I didn't make the run.
