Here, File File is a very promising looking new iPhone file sharing app (for sharing between Macs and iPhone) that has just hit the App Store, one I’ve been looking forward to seeing since back in December when I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek at it when judging the 2009 App Star Awards.
The App Star Awards judged up and coming iPhone apps that were not yet in the App Store, looking for future star sort of apps. Here, File File was one of the winners, in the utility category – and was one of my favorites across all categories.
Here’s a little more detail on the app, from its
Here, File File! lets you access your Macs’ files (yes – all of your files from all of your Macs!) from your iPhone wherever you are. Browse files and folders, attached storage, network drives, view your files, stream media, and email your files all from your iPhone. Don’t worry about forgetting a file ever again – access your Mac whenever you need to wherever you are!
One of the app’s headline features, which I’m keen to try out, is that it is able to work both within and outside of your local WiFi network.
I’ve bought the app right away upon seeing it hit the store, and hope to have an impressions / review post up quite soon. For more details on Here, File File check out its web page here:
… or its App Store page HERE. The app is currently priced at $6.99 – which is a special Intro 30% off price, available only until Thursday February 11th.

While the HFF server seems to run nicely from the CPU perspective on the Mac, it seems to use a lot of memory. I have the server running on my mac and it's taking up 139MB. This seems high for someting that's just sitting there listening.
Not happy about this aspect of it. At this point I'm thinking twice about leaving this running.
Will check it out again if the put out an update.

Hmmm – good point. Mine was chewing up a shade under 200MB when I first looked. After quitting and re-opening it's at 80MB right out of the gate. It's not having any impact on my Mac with 4GB but even so, that does seem rather hoggish on the memory front. CPU-wise it's got a very small footprint.
Finally got a chance to post a review on this one now:
