Pushfix iPhone app

If your push notifications are broken on your hacktivated or unlocked iPhone, it looks like you now have a very effective and easy fix available in Cydia.

If you have activated your iPhone (original,3G,3GS) without an authorized SIM card (i.e. Hacktivated) and are running OS 3.x, then your push functionality is probably not working. The existing fixes haven’t worked because there is only one certificate that many people are sharing. Pushfix

Pushfix is a new app in the Cydia store that fixes this major issue – and offers some major advantages over the previous ‘manual’ method offered by this app’s creator, such as:

  • No need to use or install OpenSSH or any other tools (because of that, your phone is more secure)
  • No need for any Windows or Mac computer
  • No need for WiFi if your phone can reach the internet over the cell network
  • Add a Cydia source, install, and it’s ready. No reboot necessary!
  • Push starts working within minutes of install
  • Not prone to any typing mistakes unlike the manual install
  • It corrects several known problems affecting push (wrong file permissions, etc)

The app’s developer also provides very strong support for it, including a ticket system at the Pushfix site.

You need to purchase the app at the dev’s site before going to Cydia to install it.

Go here to make the purchase:

http://pushfix.info/purchase

The app costs $5.99.  The dev tells me that it would be lower-priced, but he is providing full tech support for it, so it needs to be higher.

Once you have made the purchase, you can go find the app in Cydia, though you’ll need to add a source to do so.  The source to add is:

cydia.pushfix.info

If you need help on how to add a source, see our how-to guide HERE.  Once you’ve added that source, just search for pushfix in Cydia and install away.

For lots more detail on the app, and FAQs and forums, visit the main site at:

http://pushfix.info/

I’ve never been unlocked so I’ve not had issues with push – but I’d love to hear from any of you that get a chance to try this fix – let us know what you think in the comments.

Oh, one more quick thing to mention – the creator of this app is from my hometown, Austin – hurrah :)
