When I first read the headline over on TechCrunch about how Knocking can share up to 100 photos instantly, I thought “Ooo, that would have been great for this past weekend’s vacation!”. I was just up in Montreal and I took more pictures on my 3GS with TiltShiftGen than with my actual point-and-shoot camera. My friends were equipped with a 3GS and 2G iPod Touch as well, and I was constantly e-mailing them pictures even though they were right next to me.
Knocking might have helped a little bit, since it lets you instantly stream your photos to another Knocking-connected device — essentially allowing the other person to browse through your photos live and then save or e-mail the ones that they like. I’d probably still prefer an app that lets me quickly send a huge group of photographs to another iDevice, but Knocking is still pretty cool — and definitely a good substitute for MMS if your iPhone plan doesn’t support it, or if you’re sending to a pal with an iPod Touch.
