iSilo is a document reader for iPhone, Blackberry, Palm OS and other smart phones and handhelds.

As chance would have it, I got this app so I can get a Bible translation not available elsewhere. Recently updated, iSilo 5.07 is iPhone 3.0 tested and supports loads of formats including .doc .docx .xls. .xlsx .ppt .jpg .png .gif .tif .pdf .htm .txt. I’d say it’s especially ideal for viewing larger files.

How does the transfer work? You can download docs to the iPhone via file server or via webserver. The support site is very helpful and their staff is quick to help out via email in case you get stuck, as in my case when I had problems with the local file server. They told me about 2 alternatives that ended in successful runs. My experience was with a Mac was more or less smooth sailing.

The app is quite comprehensive and features extras like categories, recently opened, favorites, font and style optimization, bookmarks, search, copying and pasting etc etc etc.

If you’re like me yearning for a good document viewer then iSilo may fit the bill and fulfil your needs. The app definitely gets a thumbs up from me – a rare occasion where I find a paid app worth its price!

iSilo is available on the App Store for $9.99
