Snapture – one of the leading alternative camera apps for the iPhone – has just had an update, to Version 2.0. I haven’t had a chance to try out the update yet, but the list of new features looks impressive. They include:
- Tap to Focus – Take full advantage of the touch focus capabilities on your iPhone 3GS
- Photo Sharing – Take photos and instantly post them to Facebook and Twitter.
- Color Filters – take photos in full color, black and white, sepia, or negative
And one that sounds new to me: A2Focus – Automatic Auto Focus, works with pinch and pan zoom on the 3GS.
Snapture already offered a good number of very strong features not found in the built in camera, prior to this update – and has been my favorite camera app since way back in its jailbreak arena days. Here’s a little more on that from Snapture Labs’ press release:
Snapture also aggregates all of the other camera features that are currently present in various other camera apps, including: zoom upto 5X, high-speed Multi-Shot, tap anywhere to take a picture, multiple image sizes, Level Aid and a fully comprehensive help system.
It’s very nice to see Snapture adding some auto-focus features and abilities for use with the iPhone 3GS. I think this will be good news for a lot of folks who had that as their top wish list item for Snapture.
You can find this latest version of Snapture in the App Store now, priced at $1.99.
Big thanks to our reader Frank Catalano for the heads-up about this update!

Oops, forgot to take out the A2focus on the description, that’s replaced by Tap-to-Focus. Thanks for the note Patrick!
