I used to be ridiculously into Valve’s class-based First Person Shooter, Team Fortress 2, but the game is getting on in years and I think it’s time to move on to something a little more fresh (Bad Company 2, if you must know – but please stop prying). But just because I’ve stopped playing the game 23/24 hours of every day doesn’t mean I’ll pass up a chance to tie my one great love, the iPhone, with my now-ex, Team Fortress 2. The two aren’t usually related (heck, the only other time I’ve written a post like this was for a set of TF2 Gelaskins), so just give me a second to savour this moment. Alright. News time.
This is another one of those themes I found over on the MacThemes forum. The designer calls himself Him Himself, but his Deviant Art page is under Koenigsegg_ccr. The TF2 theme is a pretty complete UI and icon replacement, and although I probably wouldn’t use it for more than a day, it features some interesting use of the fantastic in-game achievement icons. The system text has been replaced by a TF2-style font, and media player album artwork is now viewed through the sniper’s scope. It’s not for everyone, but it’s definitely worth a look for TF2 fans. I've got to say, I just don't get skinning or theming my phone for a movie or video game. I am not trying to be a jerk, I legitimately would like to understand. I also didn't get a necklace that says pimp or rockstar or whatever–I am trying to be a jerk here, I don't want to understand.
I was a huge TF2 player, until this last weekend when my out of warranty 360 went RROD on me. I'll probably pay for Microsoft to fix it, and get my TF2 back on again in about a month.
I’m not too big on it myself, but it can be fun to try something different every once in a while. As for why people want to – well, I figure it’s like wearing the jersey of your favourite NBA team. I don’t care for it either, but it seems to be something people love doing. At least this one is free
Thomas, you put it in a context I can understand! I will be rocking my Dirk Nowitzki jersey this weekend for the All Star weekend hosted by Dallas.
Haha cheers!
