Cydia store

If you’ve been jailbroken for any length of time, you’ve probably had an occasion where you cannot find an interesting new app in the Cydia store – and you notice that mentions of the app talk about needing to ‘add a source’ in order to be able to see it and install it via Cydia.

Luckily, adding a source in Cydia is a very, very easy thing to do once you know how.  To learn how, read on for a very quick and easy guide …

How To Add a Source to Cydia – Steps:

Launch Cydia

On the main screen (shown in the screenshot at the top of this post), click on the Manage tab in the bottom nav bar (indicated by the arrow in the screencap)

On the Manage page, tap on the ‘Sources’ item middle of the page

On the Sources page, tap on the “Edit’ button at the top right

On the Edit page, tap on ‘Add’ at the top left

In the dialog box that pops up, type the URL for the new source – note that you’ve already got the http:// element placed in the dialog for you, so you only need to add the remaining portion of the address.

That’s it.  As I said, a very easy process once you know how – and a great one to know as it helps you to have access to even more good jailbreak apps.

Thanks for all the jailbreak goodness lately. I'm learning a lot about the process by way of your blog. Articles like this and how to jailbreak are great.

Without knowing any details or errors that you're seeing, first thought would be make sure any and all Cydia upgrades have been applied, then try reinstall of Cydia if that doesn't help.

Nothing happens when I click the ADD button. I get nio pop-up to enter a URL. Jailbroke using blackra1n, have cydia and rock running. Is there some sort of setting that may have overidden this feature?? thanks

There's no setting that I know of that would turn off the ability to add sources. I would make sure you have all latest Cydia updates installed and perhaps try a reinstall of it, if you have kept the Blackra1n app that should be quite easy and quick.
